Christine Mary Goonan

Christine Mary Goonan, age 81, of Adair Village, Oregon, passed away peacefully on September 2, 2026, in Independence, Oregon. Born on July 1, 1945, in the Bronx, New York, she was the cherished daughter of Henry and Nellie Golda. After graduating from high school, Christine followed her desire to help others by attending nursing school, where she successfully earned her nursing license. On July 8, 1967, she married her beloved husband, Kerry Glen Goonan, in the Bronx, NY. Together, they shared 40 beautiful years of marriage and a lifetime of devotion before his passing in 2007. Christine built a long, fulfilling career, beginning with a position at Pacific Northwest Bell and later joining the Corvallis Clinic, where she worked for many years as a dedicated Central Service Technician. Outside of work, Christine embraced life's pleasures to the fullest. She and Kerry shared a love for dancing and spent many fond hours visiting casinos together. She adored trips to the beautiful Oregon Coast, loved to relax with a good book, spent hours crocheting, and always enjoyed a glass of Kahlúa. An exceptionally passionate animal lover, Christine was well known in her neighborhood for her soft heart and open doors, regularly adopting local stray cats. Above all, she was a Christian who found strength in her faith and deeply valued her relationship with God. Christine was fiercely proud of her family and loved them unconditionally. She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Nellie Golda; her beloved husband, Kerry; and her older brother, Gene. She leaves behind a beautiful legacy and is survived by her devoted children, Kathleen of Corvallis, OR, and Shawn and his wife Jami of El Paso, TX; her cherished grandchildren, Mckenna and her husband Kodi, Kylie and her husband Sawyer, and Catcher Kerry; and her four precious great-grandchildren, Ruth, Henry, Sonny, and Wesley. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, at McHenry Funeral Home. A public viewing will begin at 11:00 AM, followed by the funeral service at 11:30 AM. A reception for family and friends will follow immediately at the funeral home.
