Benjamin Steven Stovall

Bennie was born to Robert W. Stovall and Norma Jean Wilburn on September 16, 1962, in Los Angeles, California. He spent most of his life in Reno, Nevada with his siblings, Cheryl, Michael, Bobby and Timpi Stovall. During his youth you might have ran into him, his best friend Steve, and his other best friend, also known as his brother Bob, running around in the Virginia Foothills. Throughout his youth and as a young man he excelled at such sports as football, baseball, wrestling, and boxing. He definitely was not a stranger to a good boxing fight. Bennie met and married Sharron Dee Sepulveda on August 6th, 1983. Together they produced a beautiful family of kids, Benjamin Stovall II, Mandy Elgin, Sonia Gatherum, Stacy Stovall, and CasSandra Stovall, and 13 grandchildren. Bennie lost his wife Sharron Stovall to cancer in 1999. Bennie and Aminingsih (Ami) were married in 2008. They met while working at Market of Choice and spent 13 years together, most of it in Corvallis. He lost Ami this last October to a sudden heart attack. He then lost his own battle with cancer on December 13th, 2022. If you ever felt extremely protected, or felt like you learned something in a weird way, laughed and cried tears of joy, stayed up late and arose early for coffee before returning to work the next day, then you were in the presence of a great man Bennie Stovall. Bennie was the hardest working person no matter what job he was doing. When you were in his presence you most likely felt like you were protected by a superhero and glad that he was on your side. If you were against him, I’m sorry about your bad luck! You might have spent time staying up late talking about anything and everything and I guarantee you laughed until your belly hurt. You probably cried for things you never thought about as well. No matter what the result, I promise you he woke before you with coffee in hand ready to clock in with a smile expecting more. Bennie is what one would call an Old School Butcher. Meaning he was pushing in a quarter of a beef on a meat hook towards the counter ready to produce the best steak or roast you ever put in your mouth. Speaking of steaks, Bennie certainly knew his way around a BBQ. He always made sure everyone had a beautiful steak and eating before him, but make no mistake and take his steak that would remain by itself in the top right corner of the BBQ. He had the biggest heart, greeting everyone with a morning smile putting you first before himself. He was the most selfless person you ever met with a heart of gold. He loved boxing, loud beautiful music, fast Nascar races, the American Flag, his wives, kids and probably you too! All he wanted was your respect and your attention. If you didn’t show some respect then you definitely were not going to receive the gift of knowledge he was about to bestow upon you. He loved his skill set of butchering and took great pride in the animal he was about to break down for people to enjoy. He wanted to pass that skill set to anyone that wanted to learn. He weeded out the ones that didn’t. I asked him once why he didn’t teach me how to butcher sooner than he did. His response was, “Cause I didn’t want you to be a stupid meat cutter!” Bennie kept his knives sharp and his presence sharper. He loved his time in Indonesia spending time with his extended family. He will be loved and missed. Please come and celebrate his victory to rest with God, his mother and father, Sharron and Ami in heaven. We love you Dad.
