Norman Walter Bennett

Norman (Norm) Walter Bennett, age 90, of Burnt Woods and Albany Oregon passed away at Prestige Senior Living, Corvallis, on Tuesday, October 19, 2021. McHenry Funeral Home is handling arrangements. Born May 5, 1931 in Gold Hill Oregon to Norman Sr. and Lulu (Darting) Bennett. Norm grew up in Burnt Woods, Oregon and attended school at the Burnt Woods school. There in the Burnt Woods area he spent many years working in the woods and driving log truck. He also worked as a Fire Warden at the Burnt Woods guard station during the summer and ran tree planting crews in the winter. After back surgery in the late 1960’s Norm attended small engine mechanic training in Portland where he graduated a certified small engine mechanic. Norm worked the rest of his working life in Albany Oregon in small gas engine and electrical engine components repair. With the majority of that time with Albany Rental. Norm had a reputation for being able to fix the unfixable. Norm is survived by his wife Phyllis (Perlenfein) Bennett and five step-sons, brother Berle and sister-in-law Rose Bennett, daughters Sharon (David), Carol (Russ) and Janace (Tony), eight grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren. A private chapel service will be held for Norm at the McHenry Funeral Home, Corvallis Oregon, for his immediate family.
