Dina Dee Smith Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Dina Dee Smith passed away in Corvallis on July 11th 2022. Born on May 29th 1949 in Queen City, Missouri to Jesse B. and Goldie M. Gregory. Dina was one of 10 children with her “womb mate” twin sister Dixie Lee Quayle of Corvallis, Oregon her only surviving sibling. Predeceased by her parents, brothers Gary and Larry Gregory of West Point Iowa, Dennis, Terry and LaVern Gregory of Albany Oregon, Sister Donna F. Ridders of Lebanon and Nettie Belliveau and Barbara Burdge of Corvallis, Oregon. A 1967 Albany Union Highschool graduate (now West Albany), Dina wanted to be a secretary. She worked for many years in the legal field having approximately 30 years of working for attorneys to include Weatherford, Thompson et al (Albany), David Lorence (Corvallis), Dept of Justice (Salem) Nash and Zorn (Corvallis). After attempting to retire several times, Dina found working part-time would keep her in touch with her many friends in the courts and legal field. At the time of her retirement, she was working for the Benton County DA’s office and continued to stay on as a volunteer in 2006 while she started her treatments for lung cancer. She married her high school sweetheart, Bob Pittman of Albany in 1969 and had two children Bobbi Jo Sutton (Scio) and Brian Pittman (Corvallis). In 1979, she married her surviving life partner Lauren Smith of Corvallis. He has 4 children, Laurie, Alan, Debbie and Kim. During their years 42 years of marriage they enjoyed playing golf and traveling. Utmost in her life was her love for her grandchildren, Brett, Jocelyn Dee, Kaleb, Austin, Carlie, Evie and Zach and great granddaughter Addison. When home, Dina spent time with her twin sister Dixie and friends donating time to their community finding ways to support those around her. One of these projects includes making blankets and COVID19 masks for the VA in Lebanon and other local care facilities. She loved being of service to others despite her own limitations. A family celebration of life is planned for a later day. Dina asked that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to an animal shelter of your choice or Samaritan Evergreen Hospice.
