September 11, 1936 - November 9, 2020
Connie Marie Cox died Monday, September 9 at home at the age 84. She was born in Iola, KS to William Allen and Gladys Marie (Daggett)Andrews. At the age of 5 her family moved to Nashville, Oregon for a short time and then moved to the neighboring town of Summit where she lived until after graduation from Corvallis High school in 1954. She then married Leonard Cox. They had 2 daughters, Debbie Demele(Don) in Tacoma WA and Terri Houseman in Monroe, OR Connie lived in Philomath, Gold Beach, Bellfountain and Glenbrook Oregon and finally settled in Alpine Oregon in 1962. Divorced in 1982, she then settled in Monroe where she remained until her death. Connie attended Linn Benton Community College a short time then went to work at Corvallis Manor, retiring in 2003 after 17 years. Connie spent a lot of time camping and water skiing at Fern Ridge Reservoir and Cottage Grove Reservoir before and after having children, returning to camping etc when babies were only a few weeks old. The small island in fern ridge was almost a second home. She was also a talented seamstress. In addition to making her family's clothes she did a lot of sewing for others, from school uniforms to wedding dresses and alterations. In later years she enjoyed visiting friends at the Alpine tavern and an occasional visit to the casino to make a donation as she called it. Always went on walks around town and to check her mail every day. She was easy going and laughed a lot and was not short of responses when someone gave her a bad time. She also loved to go on "Sunday drives" no matter what day of the week it was. She loved sightseeing and visited her daughter in Tacoma WA several times where she got to see some new sights. Recently the family got together and took her up to the top of Prairie Mt, she had not been up there in many years. It was a great day for it as the weather was nice and sunny and nobody was freezing. She is survived by her two daughters, sister Linda Alden(Ray) and several grand children. She was preceded in death by her brothers Wesley and Dennis and her parents William and Gladys Andrews. We'd like to thank her neighbors on each side for always helping her out and keeping an eye on her, in addition to a little ribbing occasionally to keep her on her toes. A memorial is not planned as of yet due to covid-19 and the weather.
