Timothy Misner

Timothy Scott Misner, 45, of Corvallis went home peacefully on Monday, Sept. 12, 2011. He was born May 23, 1966, in Mountain View, Calif. He moved to Santa Rosa, Calif., when he was 7 years old. He graduated from Piner High School in 1984. Timothy got his start in music as a teenager, when he began playing electric bass guitar, singing and writing songs in various local bands. He also enjoyed backpacking, especially in the wilderness areas in the Sierra Nevada Mountains. While attending Santa Rosa Junior College, Timothy’s interest in music expanded to studies in music theory, music history, voice and choral singing. In 1987, he performed as a baritone with the Northern California Chamber Chorale on tour in Europe. Timothy continued choral singing and musical stage show performances while attending California Polytechnic State University in San Luis Obispo. After college, Timothy lived in Fukuoka, Japan, with his wife, Ryoko, teaching English and traveling extensively around the country. They eventually returned to California with their newborn son, Kai, and shortly thereafter moved to Corvallis. Timothy started working at Hewlett-Packard Co. while he was in high school as a Student Employment Experience Development (SEED) student. He returned to the company in 1994 after coming back from Japan. He worked as a mechanical drafter, a mechanical designer and a mask designer. His passion was music. Over the years, Timothy created music in many genres, yet, being a classical music enthusiast, he settled into concentrating on the symphonic medium. He enjoyed the immense challenge of using the forces of the orchestra to bring realization to his varied musical inspirations. His orchestral pieces, “Sketches from the Oregon Trail” and “Freedom Overture,” have been performed by the Willamette Valley Symphony. He is also survived by his parents, Dennis and Carol Misner of Grants Pass; his siblings, Dean Misner of San Jose, Calif., Cindy Schalich and Chris Misner of Santa Rosa; and his niece and nephews.
