Letha Kay Sisk

Letha Kay Sisk will be remembered by her many loved ones as a person who found ways to brighten up everyday life with her joy and creativity. The youngest of all of Don and Ruth Klusman’s children, Letha, was born on New Year’s Eve 1939 in Corvallis. We lost her after a surgery at Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center in Corvallis, on Dec. 11, 2013. We are all overwhelmed and surprised at her very unexpected parting. Letha worked at the A&W in Corvallis, where her future husband’s sister, Virginia, would con her into going out with her brother, Ivan. His ship was sunk for the next 52 years! They married on Sept. 8, 1961. Ivan just had his 80th birthday on Christmas, and he’s now living in Albany. Ivan and Letha made two boys, John and Robert Sisk, to add to Letha’s little surprise in high school, when she had Kerry Sisk. One of Letha’s biggest passions in life was caring for her family and friends, and she went to great lengths to fill her three children’s lives with warmth, fun, love, and the teachings of God’s love and acceptance. Letha always was entertaining, often inspiring, and gave love to strangers she barely knew. So many people felt she was their mom too, and she was. She was that light, that bright light that every crowd, every church, every family and everyone who was hurting, needed, and now we need her one more time to help us through her new journey. Oh sure, she’s happy, but we’re not! And it’s not just the cinnamon rolls and Grandma’s recipes she rocked; it was that she could hug you and you felt it, without her even being with you. She may be doing it right now. Please join us to celebrate Letha’s wonderful life. It’s at 2 p.m. Jan. 18, on Martin Luther King Jr. Weekend, at Valley Christian Center, 577 Scravel Hill Road N.E., in the Knox Butte area of Albany. A reception will follow the service. Remember how Letha loved her flowers? We invite everyone to find, pick, buy or steal your favorite single flower, bring it to her service, and put it in the big vase with all of the others. P.S.
