Jack Brandis

John S. (Jack) Brandis, Jr. was born in Astoria, Oregon on October 19, 1939 to John S. Brandis, Sr. and Evelyn Fosse Brandis. In the mid-Forties the family moved to Corvallis, Oregon. Jack attended Harding School where he met his future wife, Judi Troxel, when she tackled him on the playground. He graduated from Corvallis High School in 1957. He enjoyed many years of wonderful reunions with his beloved friends and classmates. He attended Menlo Community College where he played football until he returned to Corvallis to attend Oregon State University. He graduated from OSU with a Degree in Business Administration with a Minor in Forestry. Jack and Judi were married on September 2, 1961. This year would have been their 50th wedding anniversary. Over the years they enjoyed many adventures with their family. Many memories were created from the rocky shores of the Oregon Coast to the wildflower covered mountaintops of Montana. Jack had many successful years running Brand-S Corporation, which included plywood and lumber mills in Oregon, Idaho, and Montana. He took great pride in being a partner in Diamond-B Lumber Co. As a large employer in the communities in which the mills were located he took great pride in being fair and loyal to his employees. He also spent a large portion of his life developing real estate. On the day he passed there was a large rainbow over the Timberhill community, which he was so proud to have helped develop with his family. It was while operating the Brand-S Sawmill in Livingston, Montana that he fell in love with Paradise Valley. He enjoyed over 35 years of good times and great memories on Diamond-B Ranch. Jack loved his community and was fortunate to have served on the Good Samaritan Hospital Board and the Benton County Fair Board. He is survived by his wife, Judi. Mother, Evelyn and two sisters. Son and Daughter-in-law John and Julie Brandis, Daughters and Sons-in-law Vicki and Chuck Cox, Melissa (Missy) and Travis Kahl and Kristen and Randy Hiner. Grandchildren Corey (Rhonda), Jesse, and Justin Cox. Alexa and Chad Phillips, Amanda and Cody Kahl, Natalie and Audrey Brandis, Brody and Mackenzie Hiner, and Great-granddaughter Cecilia Cox. He was preceded in death by his father Jack Brandis, Sr. and his beloved chocolate lab, Abby. A funeral service will be at 2:00pm, Saturday, February 12th at the Episcopal Church of the Good Samaritan. Private family burial will follow at Oak Lawn Memorial Park.
