Dorothy Miller

Dorothy Kristina Miller Sept. 7, 1914 — April 24, 2009 Dorothy Kristina Miller passed away Friday, April 24, at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Corvallis. She was 94. Dorothy was born in Arco, Minn., to Carrie and Axel Larsen on Sept. 7, 1914. Dorothy was the third child of six. She had two older sisters, Veleta and Elvena and three younger siblings, Arthur, Eloise and Kenneth. Dorothy married Everett Miller in 1933, and they moved to Corvallis shortly after the birth of their daughter Charlotte in 1934. Dorothy worked in the old Corvallis Cannery on Ninth Street during the war. She retired after many years as a cook for the Corvallis School District. She and her husband Ev owned several businesses in Corvallis including Ev’s Signal Service, Ev’s Flying “A” and Ev’s Phillips 66, U-hauls and Ev Miller’s Towing. Dorothy loved to bowl and enjoyed traveling in their motorhome. She enjoyed sewing. She was an active member of the Women of the Moose and Lady Elks. Dorothy’s biggest joy in life was her family. She was such a wonderful, loving person. All who knew her loved her and benefited from knowing her. Dorothy is survived by her daughter, Charlotte Jackson and son-in-law Stan Jackson; brother, Kenneth Larsen of Monmouth; grandchildren Debbie Torgeson Nasinnyk, Patti Torgeson, Bryce Miller and Ruthie Miller Woodbury; great-grandchildren Jamie Pierce, Jodi Cheshire and Jana Williams; great-great-grandchildren, Joe Cheshire, Cathy Chesire, Jackie Cheshire, Jake Miller, Kylee Parker, Haley Woodbury, Derek Pierce and Logan Pierce; nieces and nephews, Vicki Morris Dayton, Danny Morris, Chris Larsen, Carrie Larsen Casebeer, Kim Larsen Marr and Joyce Larsen. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Everett “Ev” Miller; son Terry D. Miller; and siblings Veleta Larsen, Elvena Larsen, Arthur Larsen and Eloise Morris. A graveside memorial service will be at 1 p.m., Friday, May 1 at the Oaklawn Cemetery, 2455 S.W. Whiteside Drive, Corvallis. McHenry Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. A potluck will follow at the Meadow Park Mobile Estates Clubhouse, 277 N.E. Conifer Blvd., for family and friends. Dorothy wanted everyone to be together at this time. Remembrances can be made to Benton Hospice in the name of Dorothy Miller.
