Don "Chuck" Charles Sic

Don Charles “Chuck” Sic, Albany, Oregon, 07-15-1950 Born in Fremont, Nebraska, to Donald W. Sic and Mildred (Peterson) Sic. Chuck passed away on July 19, 2017 at the Good Samaritan Hospital, Corvallis, Oregon. He was married to Muriel Joy (Jensen) Sic, for a wonderful 45 years. They were married May 26, 1972 in Bennet, Nebraska. Chuck attended Fremont High School and graduated from Peru State in 1972 with a degree in education. After he graduated he taught wood shop at Snyder and Stuart high schools in Nebraska. In addition he taught driver’s education and coached football. In 1983 he decided to go into the lumber industry and managed True Value in West Point, Nebraska. In 1986 Chuck and Muriel moved with their four children to Corvallis, Oregon where they had their fifth child. He managed Copeland Lumber for fifteen years. He then became the sales manager for Hammer Lumber in Eugene, Oregon for twelve years. He semi-retired in 2012, which allowed him to focus on his business, Picardy Pieces, making furniture for family, friends and the community. A few years later he and his wife became snowbirds to El Mirage, Arizona giving him the opportunity to spend time with his children and grandchildren. Chuck enjoyed working in his shop making anything you asked him to. He was very involved with Philomath First Baptist Church. He also volunteered for Special Olympics and played bocce ball. He was a volunteer as a Sun Dancer for Spring Training baseball games in Surprise, Arizona. He was an avid Nebraska Cornhusker fan. He also enjoyed Oregon State University sports and followed the Kansas City Royals and Chiefs. He was preceded in death by his parents (Don and Mildred) and brother, Jerry Sic. He is survived by his wife, Muriel, five children, Tammy (Ron) Fudge, Tracy (Kenn) Gorr, Sherry (Ken) Mitchell, Marty (Vinh Nguyen) Lemke and his only son Don “Wally” (Kira) Sic, as well as his only sister and brother-in-law- Don and Marilynn (Sic) Rademacher. He had nine grandchildren all of whom he cherished. He will be missed by many dear friends from Oregon, Arizona and Nebraska. Memorial contributions can be made to Philomath First Baptist Church or Benton County Special Olympics. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 29, 2017 at 11 am at Philomath First Baptist Church. A reception will follow.
