Bonnie Badley Gregg

Bonnie Badley Gregg, beloved teacher, horsewoman, mother, wife, and friend, passed away peacefully on May 17, 2026. She was surrounded by love and is now at peace. Born in Hawaii and raised in a devoted Air Force family, Bonnie spent her childhood moving across the world and country, living in Libya, Massachusetts, Washington D.C., the Oregon mountains, Umatilla, and Hood River. She ultimately found her home in Corvallis, Oregon, where she attended Oregon State University and studied education. Bonnie carried the memory of her beloved brother, Lt. James L. Badley, throughout her life. He was lost during the Vietnam War and remains listed as Missing in Action to this day. The OSU Air Force ROTC squadron named in his honor was always a lasting source of pride for her family. While attending Oregon State University, Bonnie met the love of her life, Steve. Together they built a loving marriage that spanned 54 years, raised a family, and created a life rooted in education, animals, community, and service. Bonnie dedicated more than 37 years to teaching in Corvallis, nurturing and inspiring generations of students with warmth, patience, encouragement, and heart. She was also known throughout the community for sharing her beloved “Bonnie books,” small gifts of kindness she happily handed out wherever she went. In 1992, Bonnie and Steve established their horse farm, which became one of her greatest passions and proudest accomplishments. She poured herself into the horse community, 4-H, and horse and veterinary leadership programs, mentoring countless young riders and animal lovers over the years. She deeply loved the land surrounding the farm and delighted in sharing its history with visitors — often enthusiastically recounting stories about the nearby Oakville church, cemetery, and local area attractions to anyone who came by. If you visited the farm, there was also a good chance Bonnie would whisk you away on a legendary gator ride at slightly alarming speeds, laughing the entire time as she proudly gave tours of the property she loved so dearly. Bonnie will be remembered for her resilience, generosity, adventurous spirit, bright smile, and enormous heart. She loved flowers, hanging baskets, animals, conversation, and people. She was incredibly tough, deeply caring, and almost always wore a smile, even through difficult times. She nurtured and encouraged more people than we will probably ever fully know. She is survived by her husband Steve; daughter Sumer; grandson Colby; great-grandson Benson; Bryan; many cherished friends and former students; and the many beloved animals lucky enough to know her love and care. Her family finds comfort in knowing she is no longer in pain and that the kindness, knowledge, and joy she planted in the world will continue to bloom through all those she taught, nurtured, and loved. Public service will be held Monday, June 1, 11:30am at Oakville Presbyterian Church - 29970 Church Dr SW, Shedd OR, 97377.
