Joanne Milligan

Carolyn Joanne Milligan September 13th, 1934 – November 24th, 2011 Carolyn (known as Joanne to her family and friends) passed away at her home in Corvallis, Oregon on November 24th, 2011. Joanne was born in Las Vegas, Nevada on September 13th, 1934. She was the daughter of Gilbert and Mabel Waddell. She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Neal, on October 22, 2011. Joanne was devoted to her loving husband and family. As a young girl, Joanne lived in Nevada, Washington, Idaho and California. She attended The Brown School for Girls in Glendora, California and graduated from Huntington Beach Union High School in California. Joanne then attended The Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio, where she met her husband Neal, whom she married in 1954. She worked as a realtor at HER Realty in Columbus, Ohio. Although they spent most of her life in Columbus, Ohio, they moved to Corvallis, Oregon in 2004 to be close to their family. Joanne enjoyed cooking, gardening, and sewing and had a great love of animals. She enjoyed watching sports, especially The Ohio State Buckeyes. Most of all she loved family and friends and she loved doing things that would bring them pleasure. She left her beloved home and friends in Ohio so that she could be close to her family. Joanne attended all of her grandchildren’s school, music and sports activities. She also took great interest in the children of her friends. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Joanne was predeceased by her father Gilbert, mother Mabel, husband Neal Patrick Milligan, her sisters Helene Burda and Geraldine Petro. She leaves behind her sons Neal David and Donald James, daughter in-law Eileen, grandsons Ian and Gavin of Corvallis Oregon, grandson Steve of Saratoga Springs NY, nieces Judy Ryan and Louise Gilbert, nephews Bill Surgeson and Ted Burda. She also leaves many loving friends and their families in Ohio, Oregon and California. A memorial service will be held Sunday, Dec. 11th, 2011 at 3:00PM at First Congregational Church, West Hills Dr., Corvallis, Oregon.
